Instruction by the artists

Kevin Braker will be teaching a carving class at Creative Arts Community's Residential Arts Workshops at Menuca (an arts facility in the Columbia River Gorge outside Portland, Oregon) from August 3-9, 2008. The class is a study in the subtractive process of sculpture. Students will work from sketches - drawings or maquettes, and refine their plans over time. Surface treatment will be discussed, and group critiques will provide multiple points of view. Students may be using hand and power tools, files and abrasives will be used in the finishing stages.
